
Dr. Alanoud Alshami
Dr. Alanoud Alshami is a pediatric transplant nephrologist and the head of the Pediatric Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Department at King Fahad Specialist Hospital-Dammam. She graduated from King Saud University and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology, with additional training in kidney transplantation, at the University of British Columbia, Canada, where she also earned a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology.
With nearly a decade of experience, Dr. Alshami is a member of the Saudi Center of Organ Transplantation kidney allocation committee and the ethics committee of the International Pediatric Transplant Society. Her research interests include improving long-term graft survival and expanding the donor pool for pediatric patients. She established the first ABO-incompatible pediatric kidney transplant program in Saudi Arabia and implemented a post-transplant surveillance biopsy and donor-specific antibody monitoring program to enhance early detection of subclinical rejection. Dr. Alshami is dedicated to advancing pediatric kidney transplantation in the kingdom and prioritizing the needs of pediatric patients on the transplant waiting list.
