António Pedro Gomes is currently a surgeon at Hospital Prof. Fernando Fonseca, Portugal. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Lisbon in 2007 and completed a Master’s in Epidemiology at the same institution in 2018.
In recent years, he has undertaken clinical fellowships in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery at Yokohama City University Hospital (Japan) and Humanitas Research Hospital (Italy).
From 2012 to 2023, he was part of the Organ and Tissue Donation Coordination Team at Hospital Prof. Fernando Fonseca, with a particular interest in automated screening and early detection of catastrophic neurological events, as well as imaging and biochemical predictors of brain death. In 2017, he obtained the Certification of European Transplant Coordination (CETC).
In addition to his work in surgery and organ donation coordination, António has a strong interest and experience in clinical research methodology, biostatistics, and medical writing. He is currently pursuing a PhD in bioinformatics.
