
Dr. Jose Luis Escalante-cobo
José Luis Escalante Cobo is MD, PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, and Critical Care Medicine Specialist. Master in Management of Health Institutions from the Autonomous University of Madrid.
He was Transplant Coordinator of the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón for 7 years and, later, Regional Coordinator of Transplants of the Community of Madrid for 12 years.
He currently develops his professional activity at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón as Director of Transplant Programs and Coordinator of the National Reference Centers and European Reference Networks.
International expert in the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) of the Council of Europe in the last three editions of the “Guide to the Quality and Safety of Organs for Transplantation of the European Committee (6th, 7th, and 8th Edition).
Extensive teaching experience in the field of donation and transplantation of organs and tissues, having participated in more than 175 courses, both national and international. Editor of 2 books on organ donation, he is the author of 26 chapters in different books on the specialty and more than 120 articles and conference communications.
He also actively participates as a researcher in various international research projects, mainly aimed at the implementation of quality indicators and quality management systems in donation and transplantion programs.
